Let’s Highlight a Senior Part 1

This is for you, the senior that I am writing to. You may not remember me but I remember you!

You are entering a new phase in life and it can be exciting or it can be scary depending on how you approach it. As I write this letter, you are probably doing something that feels like work:

paying bills, balancing your checkbook, volunteering at church or synagogue, or perhaps even volunteering at an animal shelter.

I know that these are all worthy things to do but I also know that there is more to life than just work and daily tasks. The best part of being an adult is being able to decide for yourself: when to work and when not to work; when to spend time with your family and when to spend time alone; when you want more freedom and when you want more responsibility; when you want more time and space for yourself and others around you.

There are still so many beautiful things about life that can be explored by those who are willing to take risks, which means there is a lot of potential for you!

You need to remind yourself that you are not defined by your jobs/tasks or by the label “senior” or “adult.” You can be whatever makes you happy and comfortable. Some people may think that being an adult means giving up on dreams and goals — but I think it’s important to remember that you can still be young at heart.

“You have the responsibility to create value for others, but also for yourself.”
